RAW Café

A menu for RAW Café covering 24 Indian dishes in four sections: Roti & Naan, Main, Biryani and Tandoori. The list pages stay calm and cream so prices are easy to scan. Dark, full-bleed food pages carry the signature dishes: Lamb Biryani, Chicken Curry and Dal Tadka.

Cream menu page listing Roti and Naan, Main, Biryani and Tandoori dishes with prices, with a flatbread photo, a kebab photo and the RAW Café wordmark at the bottom.

The problem

Twenty-four dishes, each with a name, a one-line description and a price, across four sections, is a lot to take in at once. The list had to be quick to scan, and a few dishes still needed room to stand out.

The idea

Split the job in two. The list pages are cream, with dish names in a serif, a short description underneath and prices ranged right, plus one photo per section so each block has an anchor. The food pages go dark and full-bleed: one dish, its name set large, a short description and the price, like a poster for a single plate.

Type

A classic serif for section heads and dish names, a smaller, lighter line for each description, and right-aligned prices so the price column reads at a glance. On the food pages the dish name and price are set large over the photograph.

Graphic system

Thin rules separate the sections, a fine pattern frames the cream pages, and the RAW Café wordmark sits at the foot of every page. The same dishes work in two layouts: a two-page version, and a four-page version that opens and closes on a food page.
